Last night at Apollos we shared some testimonies as to how this class has helped us throughout the past few months. There were some great stories. Some had a new way of thinking about things while others have had some rather supernatural experiences, such as dreams and
After that I taught briefly on worship and how it’s incredibly important to hosting the presence of God. You look at Pentecostal and Charismatic churches and you see God do incredible things. And then you look at most evangelical churches and see quite a lack in comparison. One of the big differences between the two is that Pentecostals and Charismatics worship like crazy. We need to live the life of a worshipper if we want to grow in His presence and see God manifest in our lives.
After my brief lesson, we got comfortable and listened to half an hour of worship. Some laid their heads on tables, others laid back in their chairs, and some of us sprawled out across the floor. This is what we call a worship soak.
Your mission (should you choose to accept it), is to calm yourself and worship for 30 minutes straight. Set up a playlist on your computer of songs you can reflect on. You can grab a piece of paper and a pen if you want to take some notes of any of the things you might hear God say or any of the things you experience.
I personally just lie down and reflect on God or the lyrics being sung. I may burst out singing but I’m usually just quiet and try to “wait upon the Lord.” It’s something I feel I need to start doing every morning.
So try it out. Lie on the floor for 30 minutes, turn on some worship music, and soak. And try not to be antsy.
Here was our worship playlist if you want to go buy a few tunes or try to hunt them down on Spotify. Of course, if you haven’t paid for the full version of Spotify you’ll probably have a commercial interrupt your flow so heads up ;)
