The Money Box

Sometimes God does some rather paradoxical things. For example, not only did Jesus make Judas Iscariot one of His disciples when He knew that Judas would betray Him, but he also made Judas the treasurer of the group. Seriously, of all the people to trust with the money, it’s the one who would later trade Jesus in for a few coins?

He wasn’t even faithful with the job outside of his betrayal. John 12:6 tells us that “he was a thief, and as he had the money box, he used to pilfer what was put into it.”

Perhaps God just sometimes trusts us with positions we don’t deserve. Or maybe it’s just His patience. Or maybe it’s a test to help us get over our struggle. Maybe there’s significance to each one of these statements. I don’t know. But I love His paradoxical works and I hope to understand them better.
